GUSTAVO PALOMINO, Director of Coaching

Palomino received his B.A. in Business Administration, in 1995 from Long Island University. While there, he played NCAA Division 1 Soccer for the LI Team. He played professional soccer for the Puerto Rican National Team during a hiatus from school. After he finished playing for Long Island, he was made Assistant Coach.

Palomino has played an important role at DUSC(Downtown United Soccer Club) for many years. He’s served as Head Coach for many of the girls and boys travel teams. His wealth of experience has made him uniquely qualified to oversee coaching for both the DUSC Boys’ and GGFC Girls’ Travel Programs.


COURTNEY CARROLL, Assistant Coaching Director

Courtney Carroll joins Gotham Girls Football Club as an assistant coaching director alongside Gustavo Palomino. Courtney is originally from Northern California where she gained extensive experience playing and coaching competitive soccer which ultimately led to pursuing a career in the field of sport psychology. In addition to working with Gotham Girls Football Club, she is the founder of Growth Through Sport, a company whose mission is to help athletes of all ages develop and enhance their competitive and emotional skills through sports.

For three years, Courtney served as the team sport psychologist for the nationally ranked University of California Berkeley Women’s Soccer Team. Once she arrived in New York City, Courtney immediately connected with Gotham Girls to become the Assistant Coaching Director. In addition to working in soccer, Courtney has been working in the performance field presenting workshops for The Ailey School, and the American Academy of Ballet.

Courtney received a master degree in Sport Psychology from John F. Kennedy University and an undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of California Berkeley. While at Berkeley, Courtney served as the Captain of the women’s soccer team. She received team MVP and All PAC-10 Conference honors. Courtney was also a member of the Women’s Premiere Soccer League International All-Star team that represented the United States in Shanghai, China.


ALAN MILES, New York Red Bulls Player Development Officer for Downtown United

Originally from Southampton, England, Alan has lived in the US since August 2000. He holds a B.A. in Business Administration and a B.S. in Sports Management from Pfeiffer University in North Carolina, where he also played on their NCAA Division II team. He anticipates completing his M.B.A. this year. Alan has coached and trained girls and boys of all ages. He holds numerous licenses, both American and  British, including the NSCAA Advance National, The F.A. Level 1 coaching certificate and the USSF National Youth License, and is currently obtaining his USSF B License. Alan is the DUSC trainer from the New York Red Bulls Training Programs.

Alan’s favorite player Is? Any one that is confident on the ball to take players on and those that just love to play (Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldhino, Paul Gascoigne, George Best, Eric Cantona)

His favorite team is besides his beloved country England, New York Red Bulls.

What he most loves about soccer is? The shear excitement and joy shown on a child’s face when the learn something new to help them play the game to the best of their ability!
